Case in point:
Using a pattern from my scrap-doll project book, I crafted this pup from a discarded sweater, t-shirt and pair of khakis. While I sewed, Mad Dog visited me often and staked her claim by naming her Penny.
The night I finished, I tiptoed into MD's room and tucked in Penny under the covers. The next morning, when I heard a squeal, I knew Mad Dog was up.
The best part? The kids don't notice my crooked stitches -- they think I'm tremendously talented. Crowbar, age 4, suggested I go work for Santa.
Best. Compliment. Ever.
